How Baylyn House Has Changed In 2016

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll have noticed some pretty big changes in Baylyn House the past year.

Looking back at pictures from my Christmas 2015 decor post really makes me realise quite how far we’ve come in such a short period of time….& how I really need to stop decorating!!

I had the absolute honour of being the cover girl in the June 2016 edition of ‘Style At Home’ magazine with a 6 page spread. The images were shot at the end of 2015, but my gosh how things have changed in that time! It’s like a completely different house & I couldn’t be more proud of all the hard work that’s paid off to give our ‘dream home’.

What has changed in Baylyn House this year?

Our biggest project has been turning our leaking unusable (too hot in the summer & too cold in the winter!) conservatory in to an extension with a proper roof. This has completely changed the entire layout of the downstairs of our home & I honestly couldn’t be happier with it.

You can read through this makeover week by week below –

The reveal

This meant that our conservatory went from this

To this

We then moved what was our lounge, below

in to a new dining room (including the addition of a new window to increase natural light)

& finally what was our old dining room

became our playroom

Upstairs we’ve had a bit of a change around too with Elsa moving in to what was our neglected spare bedroom.

Which was transformed into this.

Rory then moved in to what was Elsa’s old bedroom

Which now looks like this thanks to GLTC’s gorgeous grey star range.

& finally what was Rory’s bedroom

became a spare bedroom for guests/hosting students.

Plans for 2017?

Not too much, but this time last year we had no intention of any of the above so lets wait & see!

I’m turning what was Joe’s gym in to ‘The Home That Made Me HQ’/an office in January (my new shutters have been delivered & will be up in the next few days!) & would love to do something with the playroom but am waiting for Rory to get out of the messy phase, although I have a feeling I’m going to be waiting for a long time…boys!

Love,

Thanks Linda! It's only when you sit back & compare photo's that you see just how much you've achieved sometimes 🙂 x

Congratulations on your successful projects for this year! Its been great to see them take shape on your Instagram 🙂 We have been in our first home for three months and although we are almost there now with painting and filling the place up with things sometimes it has felt neverending!
But seeing your visions become a reality make it all worthwhile! Happy New Year!

I just want to say a huge thank you for posting on your Instagram and blog. I LOVE following you and your beautiful family and you truly inspire me (on a personal level, how I'd like to be as a mother when I become one and how I want my house to look!). I was shocked to read about your anxiety as you come across so strong. I too have had CBT for my various anxiety issues so can totally relate. Anyway, keep doing what you're doing – good luck for the New Year and well done on your amazing achievements so far. An inspiration to many x

Thank you so much! It's not until you sit back & look back that you realise quite how far you've come but you're right…it's definitely never-ending. Hope you had a lovely Christmas & NY in your new home x

Aww that is so lovely of you – thank you. Anxiety effects SO many people, even the strongest most confident people can be an anxious mess inside. I've definitely calmed down the last few months & life is so different, but I'll always be a worrier/overthinker 🙂 just not on a 'controlling your life' scale. Hope the CBT worked for you & you can welcome 2017 with open arms x
