Are you are a selfless person? Do you do a lot for others as well as yourself? If the answer is yes, there is a good chance that you don’t get enough alone time. Although it’s nice to help others, it is also essential to look after number one. Of course, this isn’t an easy task if you have very little time on your hands. Thankfully, there is a solution that will allow you to connect with yourself while at home. In fact, there are four, and they are all easy to implement.
As Tupac Shakur would say, it’s all eyes on me.
Relax In The Garden –
Getting out of the house is never easy when you have responsibilities because they come first. But, who said you have to leave home to enjoy time alone? You don’t because sitting in the garden in the summer sun is just as good a place as any. All you have to do is find the time, first and foremost, and set up the garden so that it is relaxing. With Alstons and Bramblecrest garden furniture, this isn’t difficult to do. You can even go one step further and hang a hammock. Then, you can sit or swing in peace and ponder life.
Make A Not-To-Do List –
Everyone has a to-do list which they keep handy. However, a list like this isn’t productive when you want to slow down. If anything, it gets in the way and stops you from relaxing. To negate this, you need to create a not-to-do list which files all the things you are not going to get through for the day. That way, you can focus on a handful of important things and leave the rest for another day. Hopefully, this should give you more time to open a bottle of wine and unwind.
Don’t Feel Guilty –
The not-to-do list only works if you don’t have attachment issues. Although putting tasks to one side seems basic, some people find it hard because their conscience gets in the way. When this happens, they feel as if they have to do everything. Otherwise, there is a sense of failure. The key is to remember that no one else is keeping score and there isn’t anyone watching thinking you are unproductive. It is all in your head, so it is down to you to grant permission to be happy.
Go Analogue –
Even when you do all of the above, technology can get in the way. For instance, your phone beeps and entangles you in a work drama. Or, the laptop calls to you and tempts you into getting ahead for the week. The reason is this happens is because of technology, so it’s time to turn it off. You don’t have to put everything on standby, only the things which ruin your alone time. When you wake up in the morning, you can catch up on events.
Until then, don’t be a slave to your modern urges. Instead, go retro and enjoy life.
Love,
