The bathroom is the one room where we should all be able to relax in total style and comfort. We should be able to slink into our tubs with a sigh that says we feel like Grace Kelly or Helen of Troy. That’s the dream. Of course, dreams and realities are almost always world’s apart. In bathroom speak, it can be hard to feel any shade of glamorous when you have shoestring budget and shoebox bathroom.
That’s why we’ve been hard at work. We’ve been speaking to interior designers and scanning every last corner of Pinterest, and the result is this: a list of ways you can make even the smallest bathroom beautiful, no matter your allowance.
Shower Curtains –
The easiest way to create a grander tub is to use two shower curtains. It may not be the glamorous addition you were thinking of, but having gorgeous curtains you can draw like palatial drapes will make your bathroom feel more luxurious than you ever deemed possible. To save yourself some pennies, you don’t even need to buy two curtains; you could just cut one in half and hem the edges.
Mouthwash –
This may seem like a teeny-tiny and almost insignificant touch up that couldn’t possibly affect the overall vibe of your bathroom, but you’d be surprised. So instead of having that plastic eyesore on your vanity shelf, pour your mouthwash into crystal decanter. The same can be done with your other lotions and potions, which could be housed in old fashioned perfume bottles.
Paneling –
In a small space, the tiles you choose can be the difference between a chic and shot. Unfortunately, chic tiles are rarely accessible, even for those that have a generous budget. A great alternative, however, are cascade wet room panels. Personally, we’d say steer clear of faux tiling and go with something with a bit of wow-factor, something like marble-effect, pergamon or a nice brushed red.
Sink –
When it comes to using your space better, the sink you decide on can play a leading role in your production of A Beautiful Bathroom. Trough sinks are a luxurious space-saving alternative, as are corner sinks. If you have a truly small bathroom then you want to keep that traffic lane as clear as possible.
Storage –
When space is limited, storage tends to be more of an blemish than a beauty spot. That is why you need to be innovative with your choices and one of the best ways to do this is to make your storage sexy enough to be considered decor. For example, copper is in, so why not get yourself some Moscow Mule copper cups, mount them and turn them into makeup holders that could be considered works of art?
Towels –
How you home your towels is more important than you may have first thought. It is one of the secret ingredients to a grand bathroom. One of the simplest and most cost effective ways to display them in a neatly folded pile under on an exposed shelf below your vanity mirror. Another option is to embrace a little bit of country-madness, which means replacing your boring towel hook with some fake-antlers. You could even have one set for towels and the other for jewelry.
