I made this scrabble frame a couple of years ago & always get comments on how lovely it is that I’ve made some for family/friends too.
It originally looked like this as it lived in Elsa’s room above her decoupage chest of drawers, however because of her bedroom makeover (& I sold the drawers!) I decided to give it a more neutral look.
This is a super easy, cheap & quick thing to make & follows similar principles to my ‘Framed Monogram Tutorial’.
What you’ll need –
A frame – I used a 50cm square Ikea Ribba for £9.00
A glue gun
Scrabble letters – either buy an unwanted game from a car boot or search Gumtree, or you can buy just the letters on Ebay
Your choice of background such as fabric, wallpaper etc
First of all you’ll have to work out how your letters will fit together – longer words usually work better as you’ll have more letters to work off. If you’ve only got a couple of names which don’t work then you can always add ‘love’ or ‘home’ or ‘family’ or a surname. Try a few options on a bit of paper before making your mind up.
Start by placing your scrabble letters out to make sure they fit within the frame & with the basic spacing.
I chose to just stick my letters directly on to the brown backing of the frame this time, however when using fabric I simply stuck the fabric down on to some cardboard.
Once your happy with the layout, place a small amount of glue on the back of the letter & start sticking. It dries really quickly so be warned!
Place back in the frame – et voila!
