1 Year At Baylyn House

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of us moving in to Baylyn House & what an incredible year it’s been. I’ll be following the ‘moving’ theme this week on the blog with some advice for new home owners as well as packing/moving tips & so on for those looking to have a change of scenary or take the big leap into the world of mortgages.

We’ve achieved SO much within that timeframe, not only turning this house into the home of our dreams but also completing our family with our perfect little man, moving into our dreams jobs & generally getting through everyday life which is an achievement in itself some days!

I blogged a few months ago, 8 months later, on my general feelings towards moving as well as looking back at our previous house. This blog however will be mainly looking back at how far we’ve come PLUS looking forward at some exciting new plans that I’m sure you’ll all love to hear about.

We moved in to Baylyn House on 7th March 2015, exactly (to the day) 1 month before Rory made his appearence in his super speedy 6 minute labour. We managed to move in, all furniture up, everything unpacked (apart from accessories as it took me months of faffing to find homes for most of those!) & drinking prosecco (only 1 for me, obviously) by 6pm with the help of our lovely friends who we roped in & bribed with Domino’s Pizza.

Here’s some before & afters of what we’ve done to the house in that time although unfortunately I don’t have many ‘before’s’ as I completely forgot to take them before cracking on considering the tight timeframe we had before giving birth, one of my biggest regrets! Every single room has been redecorated –

So, whats in store for Baylyn House in the upcoming future?

Well…this weekend we are having a big of a garden makeover including installing artificial grass from Tuda Grass Direct as well as planting some climbing plants, giving the decking a good pressure washing & other general making pretty.

In the next few weeks we are having a BIG change around which I’m so excited about.

If you haven’t seen a layout of the house upstairs then look below –

My plan is that Elsa will be moving bedrooms in to our spare bedroom (which I’ve NEVER shown on here or Instagram as it’s white with a bed in & not much else..) front right, which will be a pink/white/grey theme similar to her existing bedroom but with a large gallery wall & other pretties.

Then, Rory will be moving in to Elsa’s old bedroom, front left, with a grey & white star theme including lots of beautiful products from The Great Little Trading Company (GLTC).

Finally, Rory’s old bedroom, back right, will become my ‘The Home That Made Me’ office/study with a blush pink/peach & rose gold scheme.

I can’t wait to show you all what I’m upto – will I ever stop?

Love, Charlotte x

The before and after that struck me the most was the hall and what a difference the radiator cover has made.

I think its mad how much character the hallway has now! It looks huge! Looking at it before, it just looks like a through-space that has no use. It's gorgeous!

Your home is absolutely gorgeous! I am saving for a deposit on our first house at the moment and my pinterest is full of what I want to do, and I think I am going to have a stalk of your blog!

You have made such a difference to your home in such a short space of time, well done! We are currently renting which puts me off doing much redecorating to our home as I don't want it to be to the benefit of somebody else, if that makes sense. Hopefully in time we can save for a mortgage.

Look forward to seeing pictures of your new office!

I literally can't comprehend how you managed all this with a bump and little girl / little girl and a newborn! Did you sleep?! Seriously I don't know how to start painting rooms with my toddler (two at the end of jan). We moved into our forever home in January…exciting times! X

Your home is just beautiful. It's so impressive how much of a change you've made over the past year, especially with a newborn! x

I agree – such a transformation isn't it!! It looks so lifeless before x

The panelling & paint has definitely given it something – it's so strange looking back at before pictures as I can't even remember it looking like that! x

Every single rooms been redecorated in a year but I'm now starting to go back round! Wonder if I'll ever stop eh? x

Hi Melissa, totally agree with the renting aspect…it's a waste of money doing up a house that you'll eventally move from without any reward/gain, although I'm sure the landlord would appreciate it! Keep saving & you'll be on the property ladder in no time at all x

Pahaha it was definitely a challenge…I was up a ladder painting the day before he was born! x
