Renovating or redecorating your home can be pretty expensive. If you have a range of jobs you need to do, paying someone else to do them means shelling out money for the labour. It can be much more affordable to just pay for materials and do it yourself, as long as you’re willing to give up your time. But what can you do yourself?
Painting and Wallpapering –
Two of the most common decorating jobs people choose to DIY are painting and wallpapering. Most people find painting pretty easy – simply use masking tape to protect anything edges and corners, then give it a couple of even coats. Wallpapering is a little trickier, but it’s still not too hard to get the “hang” of.
Tiling –
Tiling is another task that a lot of people take the DIY route for, along with laying parquet flooring. You might start off feeling a little unsure, but once you get into the swing of, you’ll soon find the methodical job quite relaxing. You just need to be careful.
Carpentry –
If you think you would be good at using a saw, a spot of carpentry might not be beyond your reach. Whether you want to try making a bench or table or just build some shelves, there are beginner projects that really aren’t that difficult.
Plastering –
Plastering isn’t something you can master right away if you want to get the perfect finish. But with a bit of research and dedication, you can do a good job. Start by learning about the tools you need to get started.
