With more and more people opting to work from home, at least some of the time, the home office is fast becoming a necessity in the average family home. If you’re planning to add one to your property, here are some tips to make it as perfect as can be:
Select the Right Area –
First of all,,you’re going to want to select the right place to put your home office. Ideally, this should be a quiet, more secluded area of your home. Using Empire Lofts to turn your attic space into an office is a good option, as is converting a little-used dining room, or even building an office in the garden. It all depends on how much space, time and money you have to get the job done.
Invest in Comfort –
You might think that since it’s only a home office, you can afford to skimp on the furnishings, but you should be wary of doing this, especially if you will be working from home a lot.
When you’re working, you want to be as comfortable as possible, so that you can get things done as effectively as possible. This means investing in a comfy ergonomic work chair, adjustable desk and adjustable lighting, at the very least.
You might also want to invest in lots of extra comforts, such as cushions, a decent coffee machine, candles and anything else that helps you relax, so that when you need to take a break from it all, you can do so without having to move from room to room all the time.
Make it Look Good –
If you are going to be spending a lot of time in your home office (and even if you’re not really), you’re going to want it to look nice. Typically, using light neutral colours like shades of white and cream are good for office spaces because they aren’t too busy or distracting. Throw in a few serene art prints, a couple of plants and maybe a wall decal with an inspirational quote to motivate you, and you’ll have your office looking pretty good, even on a tight budget.
Get Organised –
It’s so easy to let your home office become disorganised, especially if you haven’t taken the time to invest in the right equipment to keep the place in good shape. Investing in the high-quality filing cabinets you can find at Furniture Work is a great place to start, and will ensure that all of those pesky papers are safely filed away, but you’ll probably want to invest in a few shelving units, and certainly a heavy duty waste paper basket too. If you think you might need more, desk trays, hanging boxes and units or drawers to store things like your printer and shredder in are also perfect for the home office.
By keeping the space clean, efficient and organised, you’ll be able to stop your home office from distracting you and letting the rest of your wonderfully stylish and tidy home down.
