DIY Halloween Tealight Craft

One of the best parts about Halloween is that everybody tends to get a bit crafty – even if the extent of that is just pumpkin carving!

I decided to make a little family of spooky mummy tealight holders which was SO simple that I thought i’d show you all how to make them. These are really easy to make & cost next to nothing – perfect for crafting with your littles.

What you’ll need –
Baby food jars (or any glass jars – you can always buy the 29p Asda Smartprice Jam to use the jar) I also used these to make my DIY wedding tealight jars/place cards – see here
Masking tape
Googley eyes
Glue (I used my trusty glue gun however any will do)
Tealights
Any extra decoration bits of your choice

With your cleaned out glass jars, start by wrapping the masking tape around to create the ‘mummified’ look. Make sure you leave a gap ready to stick on your googly eyes.

I used different sized jars to create ‘The Valentines’. I find that the different brands of baby food (e.g. heinz are so much bigger than the Cow & Gate ones).

With your glue gun (or any glue of your choice that dries clear such as PVA), stick on the googly eyes.

With Elsa’s, I stuck on one of her bows she wears….this can easily be taken off as glue gun glue tends to go so hard it’s easily picked off. However you can personalise however you like – the skys the limit! Hats, bows, shoes from card…even pipe cleaner glasses.

Finally add your taillights – et voila!!

I also made this little fella – this is done in a similar way except you’ll need a bit of black card for the wings & some white paper (or could use masking tape again) for the teeth.

Aren’t they brilliant?

Make sure to tag me in all your halloween pictures on Instagram including pumpkin carving (i’m doing mine today!), halloween decor around the home, your little people dressed up etc by using #thehomethatscared me & i’ll be featuring my favourites here tomorrow.

Happy scaring!!

Love, Charlotte x
