5 Bathroom Design Trends You Need To Consider!*

While we are dealing with global lockdowns, it seems to be the best time to start looking at the latest and greatest design trends for your home. Despite everything going on the world, the minds of interior designers and decorators haven’t stopped – which means that we are treated to new trends more often than ever before!

There are plenty of ideals out there about bathrooms and kitchens, from kitchen backsplashes to bathroom tiles. Choosing the right trend is a process, and it all depends on the type of room you are decorating, the way your house is styled and even your personal tastes. There are plenty of trends taking the interior design world by storm, but the bathroom is often the last room that people think about. It’s often the smallest room in the house, so it makes sense that it’s forgotten about. So, let’s check out five design trends you should consider so that you can have an unforgettable home makeover.

  1. Wallpaper. Yes, we know. The idea of wallpaper in a room where water is routinely sprayed on the walls is likely not a great idea. However, wallpaper is up and coming in 2020, and it doesn’t mean that you have to cover the room. Wallpaper makes for an excellent focal point and you can have a beautiful feature wall in your bathroom.
  2. Exposed Fixtures. One of the biggest trends this year in the bathroom industry is in industrial styles in decor. Think exposed plumbing and brick to be ultra modern, with monochromatic colour schemes to compliment it. Style and aesthetics are the goal, and it’s a masculine look that suits many bathrooms.
  3. LED. We all know that LED bulbs are more energy efficient than any other bulb out there, but an LED showerhead has made waves in bathroom trends this year. You can use light to check the temperature of the water, with it glowing blue for cold and hot for red – which saves a shock in the shower when you get in. It’s a trendy and beautiful addition to the bathroom, and it can be a talking point when or if you choose to sell on.
  4. Unpolished Finishes. Some bathrooms have a lot of wood. Think cupboard doors, drawers and shelves in the bathroom. When you see all of this, it’s far more interesting when you have an unpolished, raw finish to the surface. You can get a completely natural look from a raw wood surface, which helps to create a Nordic or Scandi theme in the bathroom.
  5. Open Planning. In the kitchen and living areas, open space is lauded. If you have a bathroom en suite, then you can indulge in an open-plan wet room with a drain between the rooms to capture any water so that it doesn’t run into carpet. Of course, this offers little to no privacy, but it is a modern design concept that really works. If you prefer a little privacy, go halfway and add a glazed glass barrier.
