Liven Up Your Walls*

Walls are the biggest surface area of a room & all too often are left looking plain & understated. It is so easy to utilise them to give some character or add a real ‘wow’ factor whilst remaining affordable.

From quirky feature wallpaper, high impact gallery walls to simple paint tricks, here are my top ways to turn your blank canvas from drab to fab.

Wallpaper –

Wallpaper is probably the number 1 choice you think of when you want to liven up a plain wall. You can add colour simply (either complementing your furniture & surroundings for a calm & elegant look or clash it for a real statement) as well as pattern & even texture.

Paint –

Paint can be used as an alternative to wallpaper, just check out my painted stripes in Elsa’s bedroom with a tutorial here. Let your imagination lead with this one & get stuck in with the frog tape.

Prints –

A gallery wall or a few simple framed prints can bring a whole new feel to a room. From meaningful or inspirational quotes to scenery & art, what would inspire you?

Desenio have this covered with 25% off using code ‘thehomethatmademe‘ from today (27th June) until Thursday (29th June) only – excludes the ‘handpicked’ category.

Stickers –

Using vinyl stickers (make sure to go for specialised wall stickers so they don’t take half your wall with them or leave marks upon removal) is another way to add personalisation without the commitment of wallpaper or paint. Your favourite quote or simple repeating pattern design.

Mirrors –

Mirrors not only make an impact but they are also functional (so you can make sure you don’t have lipstick smeared on your teeth before leaving the house…) & also bounce light around a room to give a larger, brighter effect. Hang one large or multiple smaller mirrors.

Shelves –

#Shelfie as the world of Instagram like to refer to it as are ideal for blank unimaginative spaces. Put up a simple shelf & display your favourite books, ornaments, sentimental nick-nacks & Desenio. It’s the perfect way to add a bit of personality as well as display things to make a house a home.

Feature whats there –

If you’re lucky enough to live in a period property like Baylyn House then making use of the houses features is essential. Make a statement out of the fireplace, use wallpaper to jazz up a chimney breast or consider making the most of a picture/dado rail by painting/wallpapering or even panelling to show the sections off beautifully.

Walls needn’t be boring so get your interior creative juices flowing & spice up your space.

Love,

Charlotte
