If you’re blessed with a spare room in your home, you’re going to want to make the most of the space. Whether you use it as a bedroom for when friends/family visit, as an office for your business or if you just like a little bit of space to relax & unwind.
Sometimes it’s all too easy to let this room become cluttered with items from all over the house (aka ‘dumping ground’) or slowly turn into a room which has lost it’s identity in an attempt to become multifunctional.
I was tasked with a project to transform a spare room by Harveys Furniture! It’s time to give your spare bedroom a makeover to make it something to be proud of & if you’re anything like me then you’ll want immediate results with as little effort as possible but BIG results.
For this one I set to work with transforming an unloved piece of furniture to bring a whole new feel to your spare bedroom. Anybody that’s been following me for a while will know that I’m a big fan of chalk paint & regularly upcyle furniture so I’m going to show you a simple yet effective upcycle with an unusual twist which you easily master in one weekend.
I picked up this chest of drawers from my local Gumtree page for £10.00 but you can use something you have around the house that you want to give a makeover. This could work on shelving, bookcases, wardrobes & so on.
First up was the 2x coats of my favourite Annie Sloan ‘original white’. I love chalk paint as it needs no preparation what so ever (other than a little wipe down to make sure it’s clean) so that means no sanding, priming or undercoating. Just slap it on for an instant look!
Now obviously you could chose to leave it as it is, but we’re going to give it a bit of a twist using lace fabric & spray paint which I picked up from B&Q. Inject some personality.
