The Perfect Dressing Table*

A dressing table is pretty much every woman’s dream. Not only is it the perfect place to get ready but it also adds an air of sophistication to your bedroom which just screams ‘glamour’

As part of my bedroom makeover, I decided it was essential to incorporate a dressing table instead of housing all of my hair/beauty products within my chest of drawers as well as having a handy space to get ready instead of sitting on the floor in front of a mirror.

Not only is it a storage solution (think organised drawers!) but it’s also the ideal place to get ready in the morning or before a night out with a comfy stool & a large mirror.

Comparatively to some people I know, my makeup collection is small. I stick to what I know but I’m hoping this will encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone & experiment with new looks & new makeup. I think once I’ve lost some weight & I’m more comfortable in my own skin I’ll be all over this.

So lets show you what I house in my drawers.

First up is my everyday makeup drawer. My day to day makeup is kept in here. It houses primer, foundation, bronzer, blusher, concealer, eyeliner & mascara as well as wipes, moisturiser & so on.

I have to admit that I’m awful when it comes to taking my makeup off (think 3 days worth just piled on top of each other) & if I do, it’s usually just using a baby wipe but with the new year brings new resolutions & lets face it, I’m not getting any younger so looking after my skin is one of them. I’m going to try to always remove my makeup in the evening then cleanse/tone/moisturise.

Hair wise is my, tangle teezer & every mothers best friend, dry shampoo as well as the aurora band for effortless waves. My hairdryer & trusty GHD’s live in the wardrobe.

All my ‘going out’ makeup (I have two kids so understandably, this is barely used) such as fake eyelashes, lipsticks, eyeshadows & so on are housed in the middle drawer which is harder to get into due to being right where I’m sat!

I also pop my nail varnishes here.

All of my jewellery (of which I don’t have much because I don’t really wear much & would prefer to spend my money on beautiful homeware rather than expensive jewellery) is popped in these little drawers along with other bits such as kirby grips, hair bands & so on.

Now for the most exciting part which is how it looks from the outside.

The dressing table itself is from Bedroomfurnituredirect.co.uk (as is the rest of my bedroom furniture which is all the ‘Juliette’ in antique white). You have a choice of two mirrors but I went with the triple one.

On top I’ve displayed my gorgeous makeup brushes from @gemwrightbeauty aka hookedupshop.co.uk who are my number 1 place for all things beauty. These are the ‘Mint & Pink’ 100& vegan brush kit & come in a handy case/wrap or a little pot. You can get them in a number of different colours & it’s like applying your makeup with the help of little unicorns!

I’ve popped them in an empty Jo Malone candle pot along with some cotton buds (for when I get my mascara on my cheek or can’t quite get the eyeliner wing symmetrical…we’ve all been there) in an empty Diptique candle pot.

Once you’ve used up your candle, they make lovely little jars so clean out as much as possible then pour in boiling water which should make all the leftover wax float as liquid on top of the surface. Carefully use kitchen roll to remove then chuck away & rinse carefully not to affect the front sticker.

On the other side I’ve got my little trio of Jo Malone perfumes which have the prettiest little bottles ever along with my unicorn ring/jewlerry holder.

What would your perfect dressing table look like? I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the room soon!

Love,
