My name is Joe, but you will know me as Mr The Home That Made Me. I am going to start doing a monthly blog post as not only can I add a second perspective on various topics, but because Charlotte told me to and I don’t like to argue because then I have to sleep on the sofa.
I’m the live in man-servant at Baylyn House with my wonderful wife Charlotte, my beautiful daughter Elsa, my boy Rory and our pig-dog Mungo. Char and I have been together for 6 years and been living together for just as long. We have pretty much crammed all of our life goals into that time, probably something to do with Charlotte being quite impatient.
I work in Banking and have a degree in English from the University of Southampton (something Charlotte always reminds me is useless) but I am not going to try and justify as it gives her great satisfaction to try to wind me up.
I love most things sport/beer related and have always been a bit of a man’s man so writing on an interior/lifestyle blog is way out of my comfort zone. I am patient, a massive optimist and I don’t want to blow my own trumpet but this whole dad/husband thing…nailed it!
I wasn’t always this awesome, it took time and a lot of growing up but now I live by the motto “A man’s home is his castle, his wife is his queen” primarily because it means I am the king and I have to pretend I wear the trousers in one aspect at least.
When Charlotte asked me if I wanted to contribute to this blog, I jumped at the opportunity. I really admire the time, passion and effort she puts into the blog and her other projects. The results are a reflection of not only her natural ability but her desire to never sit still or be happy with less than perfect. She really took her eye off the ball here though as letting me get involved is risky, I could potentially bring it all crashing down with a few inappropriate jokes.
I will touch on various topics from fatherhood to DIY to what will be a fan favourite “How to train your Husband” from a mans point of view plus the ‘Husband styling challenge’. Keep your eyes peeled for those. Hopefully, you will enjoy my short interludes and I am excited to see how much I can get away with over the coming months.
Thanks for reading!
Joe

Great intro and can't wait to read future posts, it'll be a interesting view point as the man usually takes a 'fit for purpose' mindset around the home! And big up the Soton Alumni, woo!
This made me chuckle…look forward to your updates!
You two are so cute! Love this addition to the blog – I always wondered what the husbands of famous insta-women are thinking about being photographed / filmed all the time!!!
Thank you!
