Interior Inspiration – Utility/Laundry Room

One of the most exciting parts of moving to Baylyn House for me was definitely the concept of a room entirely dedicated to laundry & cleaning.

Any mother will understand the never-ending cycle that is wash, dry, fold & repeat….day in & day out. SO, what better way to make the mundain task ever so slightly more appealing than having a beautiful room to do it in (& keep your house from looking like a chinese laundromatte with clothes driers & laundry draped over radiators!).

A utility/laundry room is a luxury for many living in the UK where houses are cramped & rooms are scarce. In other countries they’d come as standard. You can see mine here, although it’s definitely not much to get excited about!

I’ve been thinking of my ‘dream’ utility room & been searching Pinterest for the best ideas for a space that screams organisation & the soul aim is to make cleaning/washing/ironing/everyday housekeeping easier. Why shouldn’t this room look just as beautiful as any other?

My utility houses a huge water tank (which I’ve hidden behind the curtains!) & has no window so turning it into one of these beauties is pretty much impossible.

What should this room include?
A typically compact but functional room that’s main occupants will be washing machine/tumble drier/sink (if possible)/cleaning supplies & so on. Storage is the number 1 key to keep this area tidy as well as making life easier so think shelves & cupboards to house detergent bottles, boxes of cleaning supplies, down to things like hoovers & ironing boards. Many people also use this space as a pantry for excess food or a mudroom for keeping wellies & dog leads after muddy walks.

I love this idea of mounting an ironing board on top of a trolley for handy storage as well as being able to wheel it around!

What would your dream utility room look like?

Love,

Love this post ! I'm still daydreaming about a utility room I can call my own ( although I have a million and one Pinterest ideas stored for when this glorious idea happens! ) I think we'd have to move to accommodate it unfortunately – or expand ! Would absolutely need space for the dogs and wellies , our back garden backs onto our local woods- lovely idea but muddy situation ! – lots of wicker baskets , plenty of storage jars for excess pegs and I love the idea for the ironing board being mounted onto additional storage ! ( its one of my Pinterest favourites! )

Here is where an interior designer or decorator can offer their valuable help and suggestion based on their work experience. This interior inspiration of laundry room is very much appreciable.

People usually focus on the interior of their living room, bedroom & kitchen. The laundry room interior inspiration idea you have shared is very nice.
