Rory’s Christening 26/7/15

On Sunday 26th July 2015 we had our son, Rory James Valentine, christened at the absolutely beautiful Christchurch Priory.

This Church is very special to me as it held a very special place in my lovely Nan’s heart. She was a devoted Christian throughout her life & upon going into the Priory a few years ago she literally burst into tears at the overwhelming feeling she got. What I would have done for her to have been with us all today to see her Great-Grandson Christened within those walls. For anybody that isn’t aware, she passed away suddenly just 2 days before our wedding day last September but lives on through our little Elsa Mary (named after her).

How adorable does little man look? Shirt/waistcoat/bowtie set (£30.00) from Monsoon & trousers from Next (£9.99).

And not forgetting our other little beauty Elsa in her beautiful floral Next dress (£22.99).

All of our family & friends (about 50 despite quite a few people not being able to make it) met at the Priory at 11.30am for the Christening, unfortunately despite being the middle of summer it absolutely bucketed it down all day!

The Godparents we chose were my best friend Sian along with Joe’s best friend Oli & brother Paul. This was an absolute no brainer to us as they all make such an effort with our two blessed teeny tiny humans & our little family. They will be there for both of our children throughout their lives as they have been with us.

After the ceremony everyone returned back to our house which is about a 2 minute drive. We were supposed to be doing a BBQ but due to the weather forecast changed to a buffet with sandwiches, cold meats & salads.

Luckily we had help preparing food & setting up from Joe & I’s parents which made it much easier & meant I could faff around with the prettiness rather than buttering a zillion slices of bread.

Bunting handmade by me

Pompoms from Hobbycraft (£5 for 5 in selected colours/sizes)

Thank god for open plan – we took up the rug, moved the sofas together & got rid of all of Elsa’s toys to open up the doors. Having 50 guests in a house whilst it pee’s down with rain is a tad crowded!

Napkin tray from Matalan (£1.50 in the sale)

Kilner drinks dispenser on offer for £15 from Wilkinsons at the moment – Jam Jars made by me for our wedding by buying 29p Smartprice Jam then tying lace round them – straws from Ebay

Sweet cones by Jazmin’s Delights on Facebook – stickers off Ebay

Cupcake stand from Thomas & Lucia (£9.99)

Rory’s beautiful cake & cupcakes by Langley-Tayler Cakes but inspired by the lovely @emma.hellocake on Instagram. Cake stand from Hobbycraft (with dome – £10) also wooden letter R from Hobbycraft (£1.00)

We also used our wishing tree from Hobbycraft (104cm is £30.00) & set up the dining room for gifts

Luggage tags with heart stamps (£2.50 from The Range)

Wishing tree (103cm) from Hobbycraft (£30.00)

Heart chalkboard from Hobbycraft (5 for £10.00)

Lots of these items I bought for our wedding day but have reused them on many occasions since so have actually been an ‘investment’ as I tell my husband when he shouts at me for bringing more yet more ‘tat’ & spending all his money oops.

‘Cutting the cake’ – we totally didn’t let our 15 week old baby hold a knife oops

After everyone left we sat down & opened all our lovely gifts – Little man was rediculously spoilt

We had such a lovely day surrounded by all our incredible family & friends – I honestly couldn’t feel more blessed by the love & support we have around us.

Love, Charlotte x

Belated happy Christening to baby Rory James! It's nice to see your son being baptized in Christchurch Priory, a church that is significant to you and to your Nan. I admire you for ingraining the Christian’s values to your child, Charlotte. The celebration looks lovely, by the way! Thanks for sharing and I wish all the best to you family! 🙂
