It’s not often that I have to ask for interior advice. Usually i’m the one being inundated with questions, but i’m really in two minds as to this, so I thought i’d leave the decision up to you guys. Poll at the bottom of this blog post!

This wallpaper was here when we first moved in. I’m not a big fan of feature walls, especially textured wallpaper ones so I had planned to remove it as soon as we’d moved in. However, once our furniture was in I actually looked at it & thought it was ok.
It doesn’t look it in the pictures as the lighting is good, but it is quite dark.

Over time, i’ve been doubting my decision purely because it makes it quite hard to add accessories & especially any colour to the lounge. For example, the lilac check cushions from Next I bought for my Style At Home photoshoot (they’ll be back out in Spring/Summer once my Autumn/Winter burnt orange check version cushions are put away). Now, I LOVED the colour they added to a very ‘beige’ room. They looked fantastic with the sofas & footstool but couldn’t help but feel that the wallpaper colour just didn’t go.
On the other hand, would it look too bare without it?
If removed, it would be painted the same colour as the other walls. I could then add frames or wall art.
We had the same wallpaper on the opposite wall in the kitchen, when this removed it was amazing how much bigger & brighter the space looked. This was done before the kitchen cupboards were also painted which lifted the room even more as you can see below

I’m also thinking all things Christmas at the moment & although our decorations are very traditional, I do feel like placing a tree infront of it may clash.

I was undecided until you posted your kitchen before and after – wow! I think it'll really open up the room and give you the leeway to colour coordinate a little easier!
I think if you're questioning it then it'll play on your mind until you change it! Strip it then work your magic on it – I'll look forward to seeing what you do with the plain wall 🙂 x x

Strip it off , framed prints on a natural colour wall would look much better
Ive always went with the mantra that if you are thinking about changing it you will never be happy. I think a nice cream wallpaper with maybe some light brown flowers on it would look lovely
Definitely strip it. Seen some beautiful Jane Churchill Wallpapee in John Lewis with a really lovely "Hare" print on it. Would look amazing with the checks. Im having it in my lounge !! X
I am so offended by textured wallpaper! I think because my bedroom when I was little was textured and it was hideous.
Although I think your room looks lovely and I didn't realise it was textured from the photos, now I know I'm going to say go ahead and get rid of it! The wall won't look too bare if you're planning on putting some photos up anyway 🙂
Without the textured wallpaper & the room painted all the one colour it could look very stark and cold. Unless you introduce more colours or put wallpaper on the wall instead. My room is cottage cream but I have lots of different colour accessories so it looks homely particularly in winter. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

So true – i've been questioning it for months! I'm so pleased with it now it's gone as the rooms much lighter but will save doing anything else until after Christmas with frames & so on x
Oh it is lovely Sarah! The wall is absolutely huge though so I think any detailed wallpaper would end up looking far too 'busy'. I'll be hunting for ways to liven it up a bit after the Christmas decorations are down in the new year x
So with you on that one – it's awful! It is good to hide a multitude of sins if you've got a dodgy wall but shouldn't be used otherwise in my book x
You'll be surprised – it doesn't look cold at all as we have such lovely warm lighting. I'll be accessorising with colour shortly but at the moment Christmas has taken over so adds lots of colour 🙂 x
